About us
Hunting ground Petrovec
The hunting area Petrovec is included in the hunting area S IX Tuhár, breeding unit Tuhár - Lučenec danielia locality D11 Petrovec, classified in the first quality class. Geographically, the hunting ground is located in the central part of the Lučenec basin.
At present, the total area of the hunting ground is 4 471.40 ha of which 1 462.87 ha is forest land and 3 008.53 ha is agricultural land. The main and dominant game is fallow deer, with associated deer, mouflon, deer and wild boar.
You can spot pheasants and hares, or woodcock and ducks on your walks through the district. Over the last 25 years, more than 300 medal trophies have been hunted at Petrovec.
At the beginning of 1975, 12 fallow deer and 10 fallow deer were imported, and in 1979, 1 fallow deer, 9 fallow deer and 3 fawns were brought. The animal was placed in an acclimatization zoo with an area of 53 hectares. 2/3 of the area was forest area, 1/3 was arable land and meadows. A stream with a year-round flow flowed along the game park. In the wood representation of the game park, 90% was cerium oak, 10% consisted of alder, birch, aspen, and pine. Juniper was abundantly present in the shrub layer. Four feeding devices for bulk and core feed, salt pans and a perch for observing game were placed in the zoo. Four trapping devices were built.
The animal was captured in Gyulaj with a sleeping agent in the feed, part of it was not yet able to move after transport, so it was placed on hay under the feeder. No death was recorded as a result of animal transport. The first year, two male cubs, black and red, were added to the menagerie. Black was caught in the third year of life. In the following year, there was an increase of 9 pieces of the red variety. The death was discovered in 1975, when a 3-year-old fallow deer died. In 1976, between Christmas and New Year, five fallow deer were shot and killed, three of them medalists. The following year, no increase could be detected. One fallow deer died in 1977 and one fallow deer in 1979.
The animals in the menagerie were in good condition, of adequate weight and good body frame. By gradually increasing the number, they started releasing fallow deer into the wild. On March 13, 1979, 11 fallow deer and 5 fallow deer were released. In November 1980, 21 fallow deer, 19 fawns and 5 fawns were released. The release of animals into the wild ended in 1982, as the fence of the zoo was damaged and the animals freely entered and left the zoo.
